Three days

Sunday morning I had the beginnings of a post in my head, but I decided to wait to do it all at once.   By evening I couldn’t remember what I was going to post.  L

So here are the highlights of the last few days.

Sunday morning I fed just about all my spiders.  (and gave water to everyone).   Unfortunately I discovered one of my slings (spiderlings) had passed.   It happens – I mean tarantulas have lots (sometimes hundreds) of babies and a few naturally won’t make it to adulthood.   Seems to happen more (with me anyway) with arboreal (tree dwelling) species.   However, another spider who I hadn’t seen in a while – and who I thought also had died, was out of its burrow when I checked. :)   It’s very small right now and unlike the others that I got at the same time isn’t growing.   But it’s not dead yet so I have hope.    I have many pets and some are young and “fragile” both among the snakes and spiders.  And I have others that are old.  I recently lost my eldest garter snake for example, and I have a 13 year old cat and a 10 year old bearded dragon.  Both I hope to have for a few more years, but you never know.    I also have a few mature male Ts  so they are at the end of their life.   (If you don’t know what this means I wrote a page on it: Here)

I lost track of time so I ended up leaving later then I meant to.    My parents were on vacation and my Mom wanted me to check on what the pet sitter wrote and do a general check on her cats.  (The one cat needs insulin and thus the sitter has to come twice a day – something I couldn’t do… that and the cat hates me.)    Everything was fine at my parent’s  - so I continued on to Anime.   It’s really the “5th” week.   Normally we meet the 1st and 3rd week of the month, but that is generally every other week, so sometimes there is a 5th week.   My friends who host didn’t realize this, I should have pointed it out.  Traditionally it’s an “optional” week (so we don’t end up with two in a row) where sometimes we do games instead.    But that’s ok.   I was late enough that I missed a show but I can watch the missed episodes online, so it’s good.   (I can’t do that with all the shows.)

Then we played some games, dominion ( deck building game)  and a kingdom building game.   Both games have random elements so no two games are the same.    I was third in both dominion games, but the scoring was within several points.  One game it was something like 55, 54, 53.     On the other game I did poorly one game and tied for the win in the second one.   Overall a fun night.

Monday I had an appointment with my PT (personal torturer or trainer, your choice.  ;) )  I ate about 30 min before – because I wanted my body to USE what I was eating before I went to bed.

Did you know – if you eat something (low fat no-withstanding)  and you do NOTHING (but sit around) for a few hours your body will change the extra fuel to fat?   I’ve been researching and though there are some outlandish stuff out there one of the things that makes sense is to eat a few smaller meals (like 5 or 6)  and take a brisk walk after each one…. Doesn’t need to be intense.    Though an intense workout a few times a week also helps.   This helps your body burn what you’re eating by bedtime.   Then overnight your body is more likely to BURN fat rather than store it… so I’m trying this.   I’m also trying to eat earlier in the evening as I have a habit of eating at 8 or 9 and then going to bed at 10 or 11… not enough time for the body to process and use what I’m eating.    I’m not aviating any specific diet here so please don’t bug me about it- some things work well for some people and not others.  Right now I’m just changing the timing of eating not what I’m eating.   (For the most part.  I AM trying to cut down on pop).

This week’s challenge for the contest I’m doing (at fitness 19)  is to record our calories for a week.   I’m going to have to look up most of them because I tend to eat leftovers that my mom cooks.   Just trying to get as close as possible.    I think we get a point if we at least make the effort.

Anyway after I got home I was wiped out.   I was actually a little sore already.  Normally I’m not sore until the next day.  And to be clear here I rarely really HURT.  There is a difference between the light ache you get after a good workout and real PAIN.   If your muscles are doing more than a pleasant ache and are screaming at you – you most likely are working too hard.

I discovered I was falling asleep at around 8 – unheard of for me.  And I was trying to finish my bible study!    So I took a shower and let the water beat on the sore spots.   :)   Felt better and a bit more awake but still went to bed a little after 9:00.

I wrote most of this during lunch today and will just post prior to bible study – which I still have to finish!

We have a bit of a crisis going on at work – one of our processes failed.   It doesn’t look like too much damage is done, but I will have to spend some time reconciling the records.

Wasn’t sure what to title this.  How do people come up with post titles anyway?
