2 hour delay

Got to write this down before I'm too tired to do so.

So - today we have a big storm coming in to Colorado.   And earlier today my work sent an email... 2 hour late start check voicemail in the morning.

REALLY?   You know the late start thing is totally pointless for me.   Where I work we have flex hours.  We can come in anytime between 6:30 and 8:30.    But the time we come in the most often is considered our "normal start time"

So I get in at 8:30 normally - thus working to five.  On a normal day if I were to come in early I could leave early.   But with the late start... it would work like this.  the person who NORMALLY comes in at 6:30 can come in two hours later = 8:30... and still leave at their normal time - 3:00.   But if *I* came in at 8:30 - do I get two hours admin... NO!  I still have to leave at 5:00.  (I checked on this before)   So if I decide to come in early to try to leave early  - and I come in before 8:30  then I still don't get the admin and still have to work 8 hours.   But if I take advantage of it and come in at 10:30 - I still leave at 5pm.   Now if the storm was going all night and morning and stopping by the afternoon so the roads will be be fine by 5... sure that's great.

but it's supposed to snow until SAT MORNING.   Also the last time I had 6 inches to 8 inches in my driveway I got stuck trying to go to work... I had called earlier and they said "late start"   but changed it to "closed" and I missed that message until I called work saying I was stuck.

They are expecting more then that.  I don't want to go into work and have them close early (because they most likely will if they don't close entirely)  then go home to find 8"+ on my street which won't be plowed.    Even if they do it this time (they didn't last time)  they won't until the storm is almost over.     And my house is on a hill.... found out last time people can't get up it.    I don't want to deal with that.

So if they don't close tomorrow then I'm going to have to take a vacation day.    But this is why I think the 2 hour delay is pointless.   Either close it entirely or say it's open.   Don't do the delay unless you know it's going to stop mid-day.

On top of this - the cold I thought I was over (two weeks ago) seems to be back.  My nose has bothered me all day.    I just took some cold pills and will be going to bed soon.  I hope I feel better tommorow as I need to catch up on chores.

There are people I know worse though.  One lady (who might read this)  hurt her eye pretty badly.  Sounds painful but it looks like she is on the mend.
