Not much to
tell today. We boarded the ship around
noon. It went very very smooth – unlike
the cruise we took out of Miami . In Miami
the check in/security line was outside and wound around several “back and
forth” areas. Here it was pretty
straightforward and we were checked-in in no time. My parents had bought a special suite for
themselves (they did this to celebrate their 50th wedding
anniversary – which was in March) so
they were VIP. We were allowed with them
and got to sit in a special lounge where people explained the amenities of the
ship. We also got to eat lunch in “Lazy
Js” a restaurant that is for VIPs and their guests only for breakfast and
lunch. (Though it is open to anyone for
dinner.) When our rooms were ready – we simply went to
them and unpacked and relaxed. The ship
sailed at 7:00. Later my parents and I
attended a variety show which highlighted the various acts that were going to
play later in the week. Unfortunately my
SIL wasn’t feeling very well so neither she nor my brother went to the
show. The highlight of the show (IMHO)
was the comedian. He had various people
come up on stage and did a rendition of “Old McDonald had a farm” with the
audience doing part of the song, a designated “singer” (he could kinda sing)
doing part of the song, and various people as the animals. There was a guy there in a Santa hat that of
course caught the attention of the comedian so he was up on stage. He looked the part as well. Tomorrow we will be in Maui .
